Themes of politics, education, gender and economics run alongside the much larger discussions of race. W.E.B Du Bois was a socialist, sociologist, historian and activist. He fought for equal rights for black people both by founding the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the through the Niagara Movement, profoundly shaping the course of black history in the United States and internationally. With a new introduction and series foreword, and Du Bois' life and works in detail, this edition is essential reading for anyone wanting to widen their historical knowledge.
